What We Do
Today Railinc applications and services are embedded in critical operations and financial systems throughout the industry and support railroads, equipment owners and rail industry suppliers along every link of the supply chain. We deliver more than 9 million messages each day over our EDI network, including transportation waybills, advance train consists, blocking requests and responses, and trip plans.
Our applications are integrated into virtually every aspect of the freight rail industry. Here are just a few examples:
- Umler: The source of critical equipment characteristics data for more than two million pieces of North American rail, steamship, and highway equipment.
- Clear Path: Helps railroads plan, monitor, and execute the movement of trains through some of the busiest terminals in North America.
- TransmetriQ Platform: A rail management platform that enables shippers, private car owners (PCOs), and railroads to streamline rail shipping and gain intelligent insights related to their shipments and railcar fleets.
- AAR Embargo System: Enables a serving railroad to control rail traffic movements when something interferes with operations (for example, a track or bridge).
- DDCT: Enables railroad industry users to manage damaged and defective railcars.
- PTC: Enables railroads to communicate key data, adopt new interoperable standards, and exchange train information in support of Positive Train Control.
- EHMS: Communicates the condition of railroad equipment and sends alerts to the responsible parties when repairs are needed.
- AskRail: A safety tool for first responders that provides immediate access to data about the type of hazardous materials a railcar is carrying so they can make an informed decision about how to respond to a rail emergency.
- Car Hire: Facilitates the use of railroad equipment between railroads or other entities, including rate negotiations, analysis of usage and liability data, and data exchange between participants.
- Code Tables and IRFs: Railinc maintains the only industry-accepted version of the North American railroad industry's official code tables and Industry Reference Files.
- Car Repair Billing: Enables repair shops and railroads to report repairs and manage billing through a data exchange or a user interface.
